Organic Einkorn From Jovial Foods
That tub of stuff? Those are organic Einkorn berries grown in the fields of Italy. If my husband were writing this he would also sarcastically add that they must be watered with unicorn tears. Yup a knee slapper!
Just 3 pounds of these will run you upwards of $22 on Amazon or approximately $7 per pound. *Note, this is of today and pricing does change daily.*
You can check here, https://rusticwisdom.com/jovialberriesonamazon. I was paying that!
Well, I did one time, then thought I have to be able to place a larger order! Unfortunately, Jovial does not sell their bulk packaged option through Amazon so I cruised over to their website to see what options they had, https://jovialfoods.com/einkorn/wheat-berries/.
My 1st Order From Jovial
On their website, Jovial, sells their berries in 10 pound quantities. This was exactly what I needed. I usually mill about 3 to 5 pounds a week to sustain my sourdough starter and other weekly baking. I quickly added 2 of the 10 pound options to my cart. Naturally, I was hoping for free shipping so I checked to see what the minimum purchase was to qualify, $100. I added 1 more of the 10 pound options. There was a popup discount for enrolling in their email subscription so I did that and knocked another $10(ish) bucks off the order total. Whoohoo!
The Arrival and Savings
I needed berries in a hurry to avoid throwing my sourdough starter in the fridge so I promptly checked out. I received my confirmation email and shipping confirmation the next day. They didn’t provide a promise date for the delivery but it was being shipped via FedEx. I was happily surprised when they arrived 5 days later and just in time for my sourdough feeding.
Each of the 10 pounds was split and packaged in separate 5 pound bags and in their own shipping box. The three boxes were combined into a larger shipping box with some of the most durable shipping tape I’ve ever encountered. All in all, this was an seamless experience and I will continue to buy my berries directly from Jovial. And the savings!!! When it was all said and done I received 30 pounds of berries and paid $107.97 or roughly $3.60 a pound. I saved myself over $100!!!
Que the happy dance! Added bonus I don’t have to worry about running out again for a little bit.
Bye now, running to mill some fresh flour!
