A Journey to Wholesome Living

My boys and I overlooking the Appalachian foothills

A good view, is worth the work to see it!

About Me

Hey Y’all!

My name is Chey (pronounced Shy).  As you can see, I was that eighties kid with Space Camp dreams.

In my late 20s, I became allergic to dairy.  Kicking and screaming, I gave it up and began learning about how food is made, in America.  It has been a long journey of peeling away layers of convenience lifestyle and replacing it with efforts that are more natural.  More than 10 years later, I am still learning.

And so the journey continues…

About This Journey

I love the concept of viewing learning through the lens of a “journey.”  The path may ebb and flow, have peaks and valleys.  Journeys may have periods of great friendship or require quiet contemplation.  All of us are on a journey and they each take their own unique shape.  There is no right or wrong, here.  I am no professional chef, educator or Mom/Wife of the Year.  I try, I err and I try again.  Where ever you find yourself on your personal journey, embrace it and keep exploring.

My journey is all about peeling back modern day conveniences and replacing them with more simple and wholesome alternatives.  What does this look like?  It includes passing on big name brand bug repellant and using peppermint and lavender oil instead which eliminates the use of toxic chemicals.  It also looks like my children playing and learning outside, instead of opting for public education.  You are welcome to follow along!  I sincerely hope you find something here, to inspire.

“Trust your own instinct. Your mistakes might as well be your own, instead of someone else’s.”
